Concert Band Placement Auditions

All placement auditions consist of the following:

1. 12 major scales from memory, complete with arpeggios, in 3 minutes or less.  Scales are to be performed a minimum of one octave, but multiple octaves are highly encouraged where possible.  Scales must be performed in the complete octaves, in the Florida All-State pattern ( C-F-Bb-Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-B-E-A-D-G).

2. The specific prepared exercise for their instrument.  

   1. Percussion will play BOTH the xylophone & snare Etude.​

Jazz Placement Auditions

​All Jazz placement auditions will consist of the following:

1. Improvisation (Blue Bossa- 1 or 2 choruses)

   • Play two if you want to be considered for the top jazz groups.​

2. The specific Prepared exercise for their instrument

Your final jazz placement score will be your concert and jazz placement combined.
