Band Course Requirements: Classical and Jazz

  • Students must be enrolled in Two Performing Arts classes each semester. Three courses are highly suggested to fully immerse into the performing arts curriculum. 

  • Students must audition at the end of each school year to be in the School of the Performing Arts. Audition material will be determined by the music faculty.

  • Students will be required to attend quarterly after-school recitals. Every student must perform on at least one quarterly recital by the end of their senior year.

  • Students are required to take online Virtual courses to allow time in their schedule for their performing arts second class and/or third classes.  These may be also done during the summer break.  

  • Music students will be required to join Tri-M by their freshmen year.

  • Students are required to participate in Solo/Ensemble and Concert MPA.

  • Students are required to audition for All-County and All-State.

  • Private Lessons are not required but HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.

  • Music Ensemble 1, 2, 3, 4

  • Music Technology and Sound Engineering 1 & 2

  • School of the Performing Arts Keyboarding

  • AP Music Theory or School of the Performing Arts Music Theory

 

Optional Classes

  • Jazz Ensembles 1, 2, 3, 4

  • Jazz Theory 1, 2 (Should be taken 9th and 10th grade year for students in Jazz Ensembles)

  • Any other Performing Ensemble course (Orchestra or Choir)

  • Music History
