General Meeting August 1, 2006
Called to order at 7:00pm by Susan Mackenzie
Minutes from the May 2, 2006 meeting were approved as written.
Susan MacKenzie introduced the officers for the 2006-07 school year.
Treasurer’s report: Student accounts are available upon request. Football program ad sales are coming in slowly. The football program ad sales are still $14,000 under budget. Students are urged to sell ads. There are still uncollected band fees. Arrangement for the payment of band fees must be made prior to the first football game. Students will not be able to march in the field show until arrangements have been made to pay band fees. Those students are still required to report for the games and will perform in the stands only.
Football Program Ads: Program ad sales will be accepted until August 14th. Forms for program ad sales and an updated list of secured ads can be found on the band web site: www.creekband.org.
Adult Staffing: If you would like to chaperone, you must have a VIPS form on file with SCHS. Lynn Kindy has forms available. If you would like to chaperone any of the football games, email Lynn at lynn@kindy.net. Student health forms are also due.
Pit Crew: Pit crew assists with loading and unloading instruments from the trailer and helps in getting pit instruments onto the field for performances. If you are willing to help, contact Jerry MacKenzie.
Uniforms: Students were fitted for uniforms during band camp. Students current with their band fees have received their orange bags with gloves, polo shirt and band t-shirt. Some polo shirts have not yet arrived from the embroiderer. Band accessories will be sold next month.
Color Guard: The color guard has been practicing all summer and is working hard to get their show ready for the first game.
Fundraising Concert: Noreen Kearn and Amy Harms will be chairing the concert held on February 3, 2007 at the News-Journal Center. There will be two shows. Tickets will be available to the community through the News-Journal box office. Details to follow.
Lakeside Jazz Festival: LJF will be held April 21and 22, 2007 in Port Orange. Funds raised by this festival provide scholarship money to students interested in summer music/leadership camps. We need parent help with this event. Meetings are held every third Thursday of the month in the City Center Board Room. Let Susan MacKenzie now if you are interested in helping.
Director’s report: All State auditions will be at Spruce Creek HS on September 16. We will be selling concessions and will need parent help. Kris Light will be in charge of concessions. Orchestra enrollment is up to 38 strings. There are 360 total students in the music program. S.R. Perrott will be providing bottled water for football games. If you have band photos, send them to Anthony Malena at www.anthony@malena.net. Photos will be used for an end of the year DVD. Ask your kids for updates in the music department. Updates will be sent via email and will be posted on the creekband web site.
