General Meeting March 7, 2006

 

Jenna Steen: Called to order 7pm, pledge of allegiance, minutes accepted as written.

Band Captain: Andrew Angelo – 2/4 S&E practices. 2/9,10,11, S&E, Jazz bands and combos at Lake Brantley HS. 2/17 & 18 – hosted MS S&E, ran smoothly. 2/21 Dr. Adams and Ms. Barry worked with bands. 3/2 & 3 – FBA Concert band 2 superior and 2 excellent, Symphonic band 4 superior, Orchestra 4 superior.

Treasurer’s Report: Balance $28,230.  ~$4800 is student accounts. Need Silent Auction money to help the budget through the summer.

Lakeside Jazz Fest: Mr. Kidd read and explained the mission statement for the Jazz Fest and the goal of funding scholarships for our students fro summer music and leadership camps.  Preferred seating is a new section this year for evening performances.  Sponsors receive a table, rest are available for purchase at $100 per night, 8 – 10 people per table, snacks and beverages served. Next meeting at the library auditorium this Thursday.

Nominating committee: Anyone interested in being nominated for a position, let the committee know.

Director’s Report: Mr. Kidd – Tuesday 3/28, S&E and Jazz State in Ocala. Taking 2 charter busses.  Orchestra State 4/18, 1 bus to Bradenton. State Symphonic 2 busses to Vero Beach on 4/27.  $2,200 for busses.

Orchestra S&E 3/11 at OBMS.  Prism Concert tentatively set for 4/12.

Please send responses to legislature concerning the arts in the school curriculum.  Contribute pictures and video for end of year video. POG TV, channel 99 local access, running video highlights of the Peach Bowl.

Silent Auction: March 18th which is the first Saturday of Spring Break. Susan Salerno and Tecla will be accepting baskets 3/10 through Thursday 3/16. Set up 3/17 at PO rec. center. Sat. 3/18, 10 – 12, final set up. Need volunteers for driving, set up and auction workers.  Students each need to donate 2 baskets worth $20 and 1 group basket worth $40.  Fill out donation forms.

Kickoff ’06-’07: May 22nd, 6 – 9 pm in the new atrium.  Collect dues, sign for uniforms and shirts, dresses, jackets, etc.

News-Journal Concessions: Needing 2 adults to serve beer and wine, 5 students to serve. Made about $350 in February, evaluating time vs. profit.

Color Guard: 1st weekend in April may do a local show.

Banquet: May 13th at the Daytona 500 Club.  Tickets ~ $25.
