General Meeting February 7, 2006

 

Jenna Steen: Called to order 7pm, pledge of allegiance, minutes accepted as written.

Treasurer’s Report: Each student and chaperone was given a $37 credit for Peach Bowl to their accounts. If you would rather have a check reimbursement, give Terri a request in writing.

Lakeside Jazz Fest: Report given by Susan MacKenzie.

Staffing: Martha Fabian: Need staffing for the following:

Busses for Solo and Ensemble February 9, 10, 11.

Middle School Solo and Ensemble: February 16 and 17, concessions, hospitality, registration. Students do judge running and hall monitor.

Orchestra: Kim did a fund raiser at News-Journal Center. They were very pleased with the workers and would like to offer Creek the ability to run concessions and perform in the lobby.  They provide the product and would give us 25%. Students get to see the performance, time count towards service hours. We suggest trying the schedule from now through March.  Kim has been working with Orchestra parents.  Need volunteers from Concert or Symphonic band. Susan Salerno has offered to help Kim. February 23, St. Martin’s in the Field at Peabody, bus leaves school at 6:05pm.

Website: Went down and will be back up soon. Lakeside Jazz site went back up Sunday evening.

Banquet: May 13, 6pm.

Nominating committee: Asking for candidates, send requests or nominations to Margaret Roberts.

Luminary Sales: $28,140. ($4,000 above expected total) $1000 matching fund from WalMart in New Smyrna Beach.

Director’s Report: Teacher of the month, Mr. John Seth.  S&E at Lake Brantley Feb. 9, 10, 11. School bus cost is the same as a charter bus. Hosting Middle School S&E 2/17&18.  Feb 20, marathon rehearsal. March 2,3,4 tight scheduling for orchestra and bands, 1 charter bus. March 11 orchestra S&E at Ormond Middle School.

Shawn McKaig: Winter season is going well. 1st competition 4th of 20. All guest conductors are alumni. Upcoming performances in Kissimmee, Jacksonville, Tampa. Creekguard.com has schedules.

Silent Auction: Teckla – Need help closer to March 18 collecting and categorizing, sign up please. For now need help for raffle, go to Circuit City, Best Buy or other to see if they have a TV. Nova & Spruce Creek has climate controlled storage space. POD, Joe Papa will contact Mr. Eales. Feb 15th, Teckla will talk to students and pass out packets. Need help brainstorming. Angie ______ volunteered to help.  Students have 3 obligations, get donations of $20 or so, team basket (groups formed by directors), bring information home.

9th grade orientation coming up 6-8pm. Summer music camp info available, scholarships will be awarded from Lakeside Jazz proceeds. Hinson Middle School, 23 interested students. School Board, recognized Peach Bowl awards, IB Accolades, Demonstration School.  Pictures for a year end DVD and Lakeside Jazz wanted, send to Mr. Malena.
