Band Captain Report - Roberta Schmidt
Thank you Parents for all your hard work during Band Camp and we look forward to seeing you at all the events this year. The band is working hard on their program. This year we are doing the music of Earth, Wind & Fire.
Principal, Tim Egnor, stopped in at the meeting to explain about the Budget Cuts !!! this year and how they would affect the band. He sees "Positive Attitude & Performance by Band & Parents"
Treasurer's Report: Terri Karol Report passed out and reviewed. Ken Lipowitz, Student Accounts, is still out of town, but all information is being e-mailed to him and we should have a report on student accounts soon. If you have any questions on your student's account, you can e-mail Ken at SBL718@aol.com Need to get band fees and rental fees paid.
Secretary's Report: There are still alot of e-mail's coming back. Please have your student update their/your e-mail addresses
Football Coach Zito attended meeting to ask for continued support from the band. Expressed how important the band is at football games. Shows Team Spirit. Football team working hard to give us a good year. Explained how football team doesn't get alot of funding from County.
Directors Report: Mr. Kidd Brief rundown of upcoming events. Please pick your student up on time after games and events. Calendar updates are posted on Band website www.creekband.org
Director Shawn McKaig, Color Guard: New jackets and pants for color guard are great. Will be offering the jackets for sale to the band at next meeting.
Any parents who have volunteers hours so far this year, please fill out in-service forms and get them into the band room so they can be counted. Always sign in on "Sign-In Sheets' whenever you do service work.
Adult Staffing: Need more volunteers for chaperoning and field crew. Please sign up on sheets posted around the band room. You need to be at the school by 5:00 to get instructions before football games.
Uniform Report: One pair of white gloves will be handed out to each student before the first game. Students are responsible for keeping their gloves white and having them for each event the band plays for. If they need additional pairs, their will be a charge. Also, black socks must be worn with uniform. If your students comes to a game without black socks, they will have to purchase them from Mrs. Shapiro or Mrs. Mathis in the uniform room.
Football Programs: Sale of football ads reached their goal and sales are going well.
Luminaries: Jenna Steen Will prepare a letter to go to local churches, homeowners associations, and other large associations for advance orders on Luminaries at discount prices. Will be placing orders for supplies in near future. Sign up sheets will go around at the next couple meetings for the two Luminary Saturdays for parents to drive students. First two Saturdays in December - keep those dates open. This is our biggest fund raiser of the year and we need every parent to take an active part. Mrs. Steen is also looking for parents to volunteer to serve on her committee. Monday & Tuesday, November 24th & 25th will be the Santa's Sweat Shop this year for the students to put together the luminaria kits.
Silent Auction: The date has not been decided yet, but planning on a March date. Would like donations to be "Theme Baskets" this year as much as possible. Need to avoid some of the babysitting, student lessons type donations as they do not sell.
Concessions: Joe & Donna Papa They are not getting the help they need to man the concessions this season. Students can volunteer to work the JV games for in-service hours. Sign up sheets for concession work are posted around the band room. Please sign up.
Assistant Band Director: Victor Hornilla Band working very hard on the program. Drill is going great. Will be ready for competition.
