Uniforms - Cindy Berdeguez informed parents that the dresses were in and could be picked up that night. Daisy Webb (304-1450) is available to hem the dresses for $8.00 if someone needed that service. Dresses would be needed for the October 18th concert. Cost will be $5.00 for jacket and $5.00 for pants. Please make sure you have band uniform back for next game on October 19th. Lakeside Jazz -Susan MacKenzie reported that at the recent Lakeside Jazz budget meeting it was reported that LSJ had been removed from the City of Port Orange budget and made a part of the Concerts-in-the-Park . This will permit the expenses to be covered under Concerts-in-the-Park. Program is in good shape. Payback will be having to perform one of the concert in the park. April 18-19, 2008 is the weekend for Lakeside Jazz. Jazz groups from UCF, FSU, UNF, Stetson, and Navy bands have already been invited. Next LSJ meeting will be held in chorus room October 18th at 6 p.m. before the concert.
Question about Silent Auction - it does not appear that we will be able to hold the auction during that event. We are investigating other venues. If anyone knows of space, let Susan know.
Mr. Kidd addressed a question concerning the canceling of the Cotton Bowl trip and the reasons behind the decision. Mr. Kidd explained that only 90 students had responded and that number was not enough to field a show. The economy and many band parents having adjustable rate mortgages, the timing of the trip, the limited notice, the inability to advertise/fundraise until school board approval, etc. were all discussed. Parents were encouraged to save money in student’s account for future travel plans.
