April 3, 2007 General
Meeting
- The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm. Minutes from
the March meeting were approved.
- Mr. Kidd introduced Mr. Waidelich, band director at DBCC.
Mr. Waidelich talked about the music camp being held at DBCC this June 18
– 22. Hours will be from 10:00am to 4:30pm. There will be guest
clinicians and sectionals. The camp will end with a concert on June 22.
- The banquet is Saturday, May 12 at 6:00pm at the Daytona 500
Club. Order forms are now available. Tickets are $25 per person. The
doors will open at 5:30pm.
- A revised copy of the by-laws was presented to parents.
Revisions to the by-laws were reviewed. Approval of the by-laws will take
place at the meeting on May 1.
- Sharon Owens presented the slate of officers for the
2007-2008 school year. Approval of officers will take place at the
meeting on May 1.
- Lauren Rizzo gave the band captain’s report. Students
were successful at state solo/ensemble. The 12 0’Cloce Jazz Band scored a
superior, 11 0’Clock Jazz Band scored an excellent and the color guard
took 3rd place. The spring concert is on April 12, Stetson
Invitational is on April 14, Lakeside Jazz Festival is April 20-21, and
the auction is on April 21.
- Terri Karol provided copies of the budget. The budget was
reviewed.
- Mr. Seth reported on the results of state solo/ensemble.
The students performed very well at state. The concert on April 12 begins
at 7:00pm in the school auditorium. The symphonic band will perform at
the Stetson Invitational beginning at 2:00pm on April 14. The performance
will be followed with master classes. Dinner will be provided to the
students on the Stetson campus. The symphonic band will then listen to
the performance by the Stetson band. Orchestra state will be on April 24
in Brandon - time to be announced. Concert band goes to state on May 3,
symphonic band on May 4. Both will perform at Flaglar Palm Coast High
School.
- Lakeside Jazz Festival will be April 20 – 21. Forty-eight
groups will perform at the amphitheater and critique will be in the new
pavilion. CD’s of the performances will be sold for $5. Funds generated
from LJF will provide scholarships for summer music and leadership camps
for students at Spruce Creek and Atlantic High Schools. These
scholarships are awarded to band, orchestra and color guard students.

or can be accessed through the link at the creek band web site. Last
year, 59 scholarships were awarded in the amount of $200 each.
- Set up for the auction will be on Friday, April 20. Help
will be needed to transport baskets form the PODS at school over to the
pavilion. The auction will then be set up in the pavilion on Friday
evening. Please send in donations for the auction if you have not already
done so. The auction will begin at noon on Saturday, April 21 and will
end about 3:00pm. We will need parent help setting up and in organizing
the check out. See Tecla if you are able to help.
- Music orientation for the 2007-08 school year will be
on May 21, 2007 beginning at 6:00pm. All returning and incoming
music and color guard students are expected to attend. You will be
able to pay band fees, get football program information, complete VIPS, be
fitted for uniforms and more. Please plan to attend.
