Spruce Creek High School Music Performing Arts Association
General Meeting, November 7, 2006
Joe Mongato called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. Minutes from the October 3rd meeting were approved.
Treasurer: Terri Karol e-mailed student account information on 11/7/2006. Instrument rentals were not yet posted. The budget was reviewed.
Communications: If you are not getting weekly news from MusicatCreek, you need to contact Cheri Grigg or check the www.creekband.org website for updates.
Color Guard: Color guard is currently preparing for the winter guard show. There is a camp on November 18. The color guard performed well in St. Augustine and was best overall.
Adult Staffing: Thank you to all those who helped with chaperoning and with field crew.
Directors: Marching band season was great. Thank you to all parents and to all students for all their hard work. Marching band finished third overall in St. Augustine and had a great performance at FBA. All County auditions will be on November 29th. Kris Light will need help with concessions. Orchestra All County auditions will be held on November 28 at Seabreeze. Orchestra winds will be chosen through band auditions. Five Students made All State Band: Andrew Merideth, Melissa Kindy, Virginia Prestwood, James MacKenzie and Mandy Light. Two students made All State Orchestra: Zach Tilley and Ashleigh Stuart. The 12 0’Clock Jazz Band is due back from China on November 15th. Their farewell concert at Our Lady of Hope Church was a great success. The jazz band played to a packed house. Four students were selected for Tri State: Andrew Merideth, Melissa Kindy, Virginia Prestwood, and Theresa Wojcik. The Port Orange Christmas parade is December 3rd. Line up at 1:30. The Prism Concert is on December 14th at 7:00pm in the Spruce Creek Auditorium.
Luminaries: Parent drivers are needed on December 9th and 16th. Please save empty boxes for the luminaries. Pre-order forms are available in the band room.
Uniforms: Jacket orders are due if you would like to order one for holiday gifts.
News-Journal Concert: A fundraiser concert will be held at the News-Journal Center on February 3rd. The Spruce Creek Orchestra and Bands will be giving two concerts at 3:00pm and 7:00pm. If you can help in any way with this concert, contact Amy Harms or Noreen Kearn.
Band Captain: The marching band received straight superiors at FBA again this year. The marching band was successful at the St. Augustine competition. The band finished third overall and had the highest music score. The color guard was best in class. The music department is preparing for the Prism Concert.
