General Meeting
September 6, 2005
Meeting called to order 7:00 pm by Jenna Steen. Pledge of Allegiance recited.
Secretary Report Minutes from the last meeting approved as written.
Treasurers Report Terri Karol: Great job getting band fees in. Contact Terri with questions. All board member info for committee on web site.
Football Ads Nancy Norman: Program is 170 pages. Photos will be at next meeting for ordering. Help is needed for next year.
Peach Bowl Joe Papa: Committee chair. Note date changes to December 27th December 30th. Game is December 30th. December 26 1 8 pm is a marathon rehearsal. Itinerary will be on the web site later this month. Cost $ 390 per student and chaperone for quad room. Payments of $ 97.50 due 9/15, 10/15, 11/15 and 12/15. This includes 3 nights at Atlanta hotel, 3 dinners (including banquet), tickets to game, adjudication, transportation, festival guide. Money is needed for 4 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 1 dinner. More details next month. Scholarship forms available. Fundraising activities will be available soon. Deposit needed by 9/15 to secure your place and get a total count. To use your student account, you must put the request in writing. Chaperones can bunk 2 to a room for an additional $ 50 ($ 440 total). Before any money is applied to this trip (excluding down payment), all band fees must be paid.
Chaperones Martha Fabian: Check with Martha for VIP clearance. Sign up sheets for chaperones for upcoming events passed around.
Luminary Major fundraiser. Details explained by Andy Kidd. Start saving 100 fl. oz. laundry detergent bottles, boxes (copy paper size), garbage twist ties. Looking for a donation of 8 10 yards builders sand.
Lakeside Jazz Fest Susan MacKenzie: Festival is April 7th and 8th. First meeting 9/8/05, 7:30 pm at the city hall council chambers 1st floor. Dave Carr and Jean Martin need people to take over. Alumni group to be added to the festival.
Communications Cheri Greig: If you have not been receiving emails (3 sent out in the past week), fill out new form. Always check web site for updates.
Band Captain Andrew Angelo: Thanked chaperones and field crew. Reminded about deposit for Peach Bowl. All State auditions Deltona Middle School September 17th.
Director John Seth: Orchestra, tab on web site to be added. 3 new string basses, will have 4 players. Solo and Ensemble scheduled Feb 18th, possible change to late October. $ 150 fees due. Trying to get orchestra performance date at News Journal. All County Orchestra clinician Dr. Christiansen. Uniform dresses to be ordered so everyone will have their own dress. All State Orchestra auditions 9/22. All State Band auditions 9/17.
Andy Kidd: Weather report regarding TD # 16, heading this way. Friday 9/9/05 game, waiting on weather. FSU trip Saturday 9/10, if weather prevents trip, money paid will be put to Student Account. Middle School band day Thursday 9/15, expect well over 100 students. Visit expected soon by state for renewal of Music Demonstration School status. Scholarship forms, see Joe Papa or Andy Kidd.
Uniforms Mary Mathis: Polos are in, students got their gloves, bags, extra shirts, etc.
Color Guard Andrea Stuart: Went back to old uniforms, students happier.
Silent Auction New chair person, Tecla Lucignani.
New Business: Cars are in the practice area of the parking lot, presents a danger to the students during marching band practice. Concerns have been voiced to administration, warning tickets are to be issued by school security.
Cars are parking along the yellow curb outside the band room. This is not a parking place. These cars obstruct the flow of traffic for others picking up their students. These cars also block the busses bringing the students back from games. Please wait for your child in a designated parking place.
