General Band Meeting

May 6, 2003

Call to order: 7:30 p.m.

Parliamentarian: Anita Lapidus

-Welcome to everyone

Band Captain’s Report: Jenna Wheeler

-Band is grateful for all our support

-Introduced the band captain for 2003-2004: Roberta Schmidt

Secretary’s Report: Janey Weimer

-Note from Katie Kearn thanking the band parents for support

-Thank you note from Rose Shapiro for the beautiful flowers

Treasurer’s Report: Ken Lipowitz and Stan Schmidt

-See handouts

-Refunds from the Virginia trip will be sent out. Checks will be mailed to the homes of the students. Final report will be given at the next meeting.

Director’s Report: Mr. Kidd

-Thanked the Band Banquet Committee.

-Donna Papa will be the chair for the 2003-2004 banquet.

-Please reserve the Hilton for next year.

-Prism Concert Rehearsal will be on Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. All students participating must attend the rehearsals.

-Students report at 6:30 p.m.

-Concert is at 7:00 p.m.

-May 9, 2003 is the concert in our newly renovated auditorium. We will “pass the hat” for a free will offering.

-First rehearsal for the 2003-2004 school year will be May 13, 2003 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Gunkies will be in attendance.

-31 girls have been accepted into the Color Guard for next year.

Concessions: Donna and Joe Papa

-Football game on Friday, May 16, 2003. We will need help in concessions

-Concert in the Park Concessions: SCHS is doing first half. All is going well.

Old Business:

-Band Banquet: Donna Papa

-Was a fabulous event

-Thank you to all who attended

-Thank you to the committee members

-Reservations will be made for next year at the Hilton

-Have heard nothing but great comments from parents and students

New Business:

-The Band Parents Association will be borrowing $8,000.00 to purchase drums from the University of Miami. The set is 2 years old but in perfect shape

-8 snares, 3 Bass, 3 Quints

-Football Ads for 2003-2004: Please begin gathering these.

-Veterans have until June 16th to renew their ads. Then it is open season for all others to get the businesses!!
