Spruce Creek High School Twelve O’Clock Jazz Band To Travel To China

We have exciting news!  The Spruce Creek High School 12 O’Clock Jazz Band has been invited by the People’s Republic of China Tourism Administration to perform a series of concerts this coming November.  The venues include performances at Tianjin and Beijing Universities, the Great Wall of China, the Xi’an Conservatory Concert Hall, a martial arts orphanage school and the International Baccalaureate School #55 in Beijing.  The concerts will be combined with a lifetime learning experience for our students to tour many of the cultural and historical sites in these great cities as representatives of the best of America’s youth.

This exceptional opportunity is a direct result of the countless hours band members dedicate to their music.  The Spruce Creek High School Music Department has received international recognition for excellence.  It serves as a model for the International Baccalaureate Academic Program and is the Florida Department of Education Music Demonstration School.

The SCHS 12 O’Clock Jazz Band has garnered many accolades, including being named this past year’s Atlanta Peach Bowl Grand Champion and a national Grammy finalist.  We have earned consistent superior ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association State Performance Evaluations and are a founding partner with Port Orange in hosting the annual Lakeside Jazz Festival.  Just a few of the Jazz Band’s local free public performances are the Friends of the Bandshell Concert series, the Family Days Festival and the yearly Prism Concert.

We need the community’s help to make the China field study a reality for these deserving students and ask that you become a sponsor.  The cost per student is $2400.  Our goal is to raise half of the trip costs through corporate and individual sponsorships from generous people who join with us in valuing the Arts and education.  Each student is responsible for earning his or her remaining $1200 through benefit concerts, fundraisers and family support.  In the case of several children, this will create a hardship requiring additional financial help.  No student will be left behind due to an inability to pay.  Chaperones will pay 100% of their own expenses.

Please help us.  Your support will give these 24 deserving young musicians this invaluable and reciprocal sharing of music and culture with the Chinese people.  It is an experience that will reflect positively on our country and be life-changing for our student ambassadors.

The following page provides a listing of sponsorship levels and benefits.  Please contact us if you would like additional information and thank you for your kind consideration of our request.

We hope we can count on your donation and promise to make Florida proud!

Sincerely,
